Job Description: Under general supervision, assists in Summary Court operations by performing a variety of duties in support of effective and efficient court operations. Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal reporting requirements.
Minimum Requirements: Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Paralegal, or experience working in a legal environment preferred. Strong communication and telephone skills, and problem-solving skills. Required to have and maintain a clear background check, credit check, and pass a drug screening. Must be dependable and prompt, and be efficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook Express, and Excel.
Additional Requirements: Expected to complete six months probationary requirements on time and with a demonstrated ability to perform at an acceptable level. Within five years of employment, will be expected to perform all tasks commensurate of the position with limited supervisory oversite and in addition, possess a general working knowledge of Civil Court procedures.
Responsibilities: Performs functions relative to general office functions of the Kershaw County Magistrate Court, Including input of issued traffic and criminal tickets, entry of disposition data, coordination with law enforcement agencies concerning summary court appearances and hearings, transmittal of necessary information to the Department of Motor Vehicles, South Carolina Court Administration and other state and local entities, daily interaction with the public, law enforcement
Personnel and judicial officers; and such other functions as assigned by the Chief Summary Court Judge for Administrative Purposes.
