Summary: Part Time Recycle Operator needed in Environmental Services
Qualifications: Requires high school diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be able to work well with co-workers, the public and a variety of agencies in the performance of duties. Required to have and maintain a clear background and SC driver’s licenses and record.
Responsibilities and Physical Demands:
Greet and assist the public utilizing the recycle centers for the disposal of household garbage and recyclables:
- Employee must be fully ambulant, able to traverse wide areas, and negotiate around and between obstacles deposited
- Employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time
Separate and monitor deposits of recyclable materials and garbage into appropriate containers:
- Employee is required to use hands to finger, grip, and feel objects to include tools, and controls
- Employee must be able to bend, squat, kneel, reach and balance, taste, and smell
- Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift and/or move 11-50 pounds assisted
- Employees is required to have vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Employee work environment has a moderate to loud noise level
Notify landfill office when containers are full and request pick-up; report problems or questionable materials left at site; provide accurate count of customers using recycle-convenience centers.
Maintain cleanliness of recycle-convenience centers for public.
- Employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts
- Employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles
- Employee may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures
Perform other duties as assigned.
