Job Title:    Dispatcher

Work Schedule:    Sunday thru Saturday; 12.25 hours - Rotating shifts to include evenings and weekends

Location:    Kershaw County E-911 Central Communications 
                   Camden, SC

Summary:     Full-time Dispatchers needed in E-911 Central Communications.

Qualifications: Requires high school diploma or equivalent, recommended/suggested experience in public safety agencies or radio dispatching or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be able to type accurately on computer. Requires excellent communications skills and pose while working under extreme stress and/or pressure is essential. Must be able to take and pass SLED required course, federally mandated courses, CPR, S.C. Criminal Justice Academy 9-1-1 school and any additional related courses as needed for the completion of duties. Must be able to work well with co-workers, the public and a variety of agencies in the performance of duties. Required to have and maintain a clear background and SC driver’s licenses and record.  Must pass drug screening and be dependable and prompt.

Responsibilities: Operates emergency and non-emergency communications equipment to ensure the proper receiving, logging and dissemination of information. Documents and maintains accurate records of information received and given to public safety officers and other service agencies. Equipment includes but is not limited to telephone, radio, various computers, TTY, call checks. Answers all emergency and no-emergency phone and radio calls for service requesting fire, police, EMC and rescue etc. coming into the county. Monitors phones, radios, weather system and numerous computers for pertinent information to ensure the optimum service. Assist other non-county agencies when necessary in handling and completion of incidents. Applies accepted polices, practices and procedures while performing duties. Performs duties in accordance of county, city and state laws, regulations, rules and codes as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
