Work Schedule: Sunday thru Saturday - 12 Hour Rotating Shifts; Rotating On-Call Shifts to include evenings & weekends
Location: Kershaw County Detention Center -Camden, SC
Summary: Full-time Correctional Officer needed at Kershaw County Detention Center. Performs the daily inmate-management and security duties of the KCDC to ensure proper enforcement of jail policies, procedures and programs.
Qualifications: Must be 19 years of age or older. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and completion of 120 hours of training at the Criminal Justice Academy within one year of hire date. Must complete 40 hours of in-service training per year. Must have a clear criminal background that will allow entrance to the Criminal Justice Academy. Must be able to successfully pass the Test of Adult Basic Education (T.A.B.E.). Required to have and maintain a good driving record and a valid SC driver’s license. Must pass credit check and drug screening.
Responsibilities: Performs inmate head counts and security checks on a regular basis, ensures security of facilities, personnel and inmates. Ensures physical and personal needs of inmates are addressed, issues mail and personal items, ensures cleanliness of linens and issued proper uniforms. Processes paper work for new and released inmates, escorts inmates to see nurse, medical facilities, court, or other facilities as necessary. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Must be able to work a 12 hour rotating shift. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and may be required to be on call. Performs all other duties required and assigned.
