The Kershaw County Department of Solid Waste is responsible for the collection and disposal of solid waste in the unincorporated areas of Kershaw County and operates ten (10) Convenience Centers. The Department also operates a C&D (Construction and Demolition) Landfill which is located at our central office location of 860 Park Road, Cassatt, South Carolina 29032. The landfill hours of operation are 7:00 AM until 4:45 PM Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM until 1:45PM on Saturday. The hours of operation for our Convenience Centers vary based on location and specific questions will be answered by calling our central office at 803-425-1507.

Our Convenience Centers can be utilized to dispose of household garbage by using the available compactors which are hauled to the appropriate landfill operated by Waste Management Industries. Our Convenience Centers can also be utilized to dispose of C&D material by using the open top containers which are hauled to our C&D Landfill on Park Road.

The Convenience Centers are available for RESIDENTIAL USE ONLY, by residents of Kershaw County. No businesses or contractors are allowed to utilize The Convenience Centers. Large quantities of debris should not be disposed of at The Convenience Centers, but should be hauled directly to the appropriate landfill. Our landfill on Park Road can accept large quantities of construction/demolition, yard waste and white goods. All contractors and businesses must dispose of debris at the appropriate landfill and are prohibited from utilizing any Recycle Centers for any disposal.

The Department of Solid Waste operates under the supervision and regulations of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control/Solid Waste Division. SCDHEC provides support and assistance with our recycling efforts and regulates types of debris disposed of in the various classifications of licensed landfills.
